The Proposal

Vol. 1 Issue 2

2017

Beat the earth in rhythm to her relentless submission.
Tune the sounds of her roar until her cry becomes familiar.
Cosign her undernourishment.
Smile with interest.
Tie together all the mountains intro strings and repeat.

Leave her beaten, and overturned.
These are the breaks with a history that crystallizes between notes.
Let us dredge it up with fervor.
We happened upon our purpose all along
Our shoes left half on for however long.

Earth’s been beaten into rhythms of relentless submission.
Tuned to familiar cries, cosigned by nourishment.
Smile with interest.
Together all the rivers tied into streams of small talk.
You can hear the beat.

Left her stained, and slipped away beneath her heel.
The ocean crest again with every tide.
Again, and again, never understood it.

Our footsteps wash away together.
We’re lucky if we’ve to wander into something new,
a place without footsteps.
It doesn’t exist.
Beat the Earth into an illusion of emptiness.
The untapped potential is an allusion of a land with no-steps.

For this to work, we must walk in gaps. Play in shifts.
Breaks of silence give evidence to this.
The ocean cracks under feet not my own.
Her echoes bleed into our poetry.

Time manifest in the space between us, as it beats the Earth
into makeshift encampments, forging ridges of hash-tags.

March to your own beat but drum the hide that makes foreigners
of ourselves.
Our song has been abstracted all along.
